Admission Policy
STAFF House of New Bern was established to provide a home for pregnant women who choose to carry their pregnancy to term. STAFF House provides residential care for women and their unborn children who have no other source of financial, emotional, or spiritual support in the community. STAFF House has been designed to provide a family type setting, with house parents and no more than five women in residence at a time. The young women will receive instruction on social skills, problem solving, and independent living skills. Each young woman will work toward goals individualized to meet her strengths and improve areas of weakness.
Women are admitted to STAFF House regardless of race, religion, or national origin. Admission time is flexible, but would preferably by the fourth month of pregnancy. Each woman is required to work with a county Department of Social Services or a licensed adoption agency.
Discharge Policy
Discharge from STAFF House will occur at the time of being discharged from the doctor's care after delivery or upon the woman's request if before delivery. STAFF House will assist the woman in making suitable living arrangements before entering the hospital for delivery.
